Feeling the need for speed? Well you've come to the right place. As you may already know the Utah Olympic Oval is home to the "The Fastest Ice on Earth", and our learn to speed skate classes are designed to take you to speeds you never dreamed! Our classes are open to any age and are best suited for those individuals who have basic skating skills. (Having passed Basic 2 in our Learn to Skate Program.)

Learn to Speed Skate - Short Track -$45/ 6 Classes
Recommend skater has passed Basic 2 in Learn to Skate

June 7-16, Mon & Wed 5-5:45pm
June 21-30, Mon & Wed 5-5:45pm
July5-14, Mon & Wed 5-5:45pm
July 19-28, Mon & Wed 5-5:45pm

Learn To Speed Skate - Long Track - $45 for 6 Classes
We recommend skater has taken at least 1 Learn to Speed Skate Short Track Class
Classes will resume in July 2010

Oval will provide evaluation containing student's progress and placement into proper STEP program level.
Cost includes skates, helmets, Ice time and coaching.

Class will cover:

Basic speed skating position
Learn the proper body position which will allow for minimal wind resistance while maximizing power output.

Weight transfer
Learn to utilize your own body weight in order to achieve maximum velocity.

Push/Stride Execution
Learn the proper direction and angle in your push; maximizing efficiency and speed.

Arm Swing
Learn the proper arm swing and how it contributes further to power output and overall skating efficiency.

Crossovers
Learn to crossover while locking into a stable body position.

Starts
Learn a powerful and quick starting technique that will achieve maximum acceleration.
